Ground Transportation Travel to/from the Vancouver International Airport (YVR):
By Taxi:
If you wish to take a taxi to or from the Vancouver International Airport, the approximate cost is $35.00 CANADIAN (CAD). Taxi Cabs are easily accessible outside of the baggage claim area. Depending on traffic, it takes about 30-40 minutes to travel from the airport to either the Hyatt or Fairmont Hotels. When departing either hotel, the doorperson will be happy to secure a McClure’s or Yellow Cab for you.
By Canada Line:
A rapid rail subway service links downtown Vancouver to both the Richmond and Vancouver International Airports. The closest station to either the Hyatt or Fairmont Hotel is Vancouver City Centre located at the intersection of Granville Street and West Georgia Street. From this station you will have approximately a two-block walk to either hotel. Travel time on rapid rail is about 25 minutes. Cost is approximately $8.75 CAD from the airport and $3.75 CAD to go back to the airport.
By Car:
Follow directions from the airport to the Arthur Laing Bridge and Vancouver. Continue North on Granville Street over Granville Street Bridge. Take the Seymour Street Exit, and follow Seymour Street to Dunsmuir Street, turn left on Dunsmuir. Proceed West along Dunsmuir to Burrard Street, turn left. Hyatt Hotel is on right hand side (655 Burrard Street). Fairmont Hotel is on the adjacent corner (900 West Georgia Street).
Travel to/from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA):
By Car:
The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is approximately a 2-hour drive from Vancouver, British Columbia. Many ITE attendees might find this a good option due to the decreased cost of domestic vs. international flights. US Route I-5 north becomes Provincial Route 99 north and leads directly from Seattle, WA to Vancouver, British Columbia.
By Train and Bus:
Amtrak offers train and bus service from downtown Seattle, WA, to downtown Vancouver, BC, through its Cascades route. Fares are reasonable, and taking the scenic train route can decrease your wait at the U.S./Canadian border.
