Max Shifron’s engineering career began in 1938 in Haifa Israel as a construction engineer for a private firm. Max soon made the transition to road engineering — city engineering—and then traffic engineering. He served as District then Assistant and Chief Traffic Engineer for the Israel Ministry of Transport. Max early on sought out sources of information and networks join and become an active contributor. The Institute is one such organization to which Max turned to.
Max is a founding member of ITE’s Israel Section. He was the initiator of a successful series of Traffic Safety Conferences that have attracted speakers and attendees from some twenty countries. Max has worked diligently over many years on international technical exchange and has been a role model for life long commitment to the transportation profession. When many have retired, put their feet on the coffee table and settled back to relax, Max has continued to be actively involved in contributing to advance the profession, continuing your professional development and providing others with the opportunity to do so.
