Roy W. Crum

Roy W. Crum was selected as an Honorary Member in 1951.  Born in 1885 he earned his Bachelor of Civil Engineering Degree at Iowa State University.  From Iowa State University he also received the Alumni Merit Award and the Marston Medal for Achievement in Engineering.  He was also President of the American Concrete Institute and the Iowa Engineering Society as well as Director of ASCE and a member of ASTM, Sigma Tau and Tau Beta Pi.

From 1907 until 1919 Mr. Crum taught civil engineering at Iowa State University and also served as a structural engineer with the Iowa Engineering Experiment Station.  From 1919 to 1928 he was engineer of materials and tests for the Iowa State Highway Commission.  In 1928 he was named Director of the Highway Research Board in Washington, DC and served in that post until his death in 1951.
