Arterial Speed Tables and Speed Management Strategies
When: December 9, 2024 | 3:00 - 4:30 PM ET
This webinar is led by the ITE Complete Streets Council.
Webinar Description:
As safety practitioners continue to look at tools for reducing vehicle speeds, some agencies have begun to utilize speed tables and other vertical deflection techniques as means to manage excessive speeds. Building upon strategies first implemented in neighborhood settings, these agencies have worked to reimagine these tools for arterial and high-volume roadways, with goals of reducing speeds and crashes and improving conditions for non-motorist road users while maintain traffic flow and limiting impact to other stakeholders such as transit buses and emergency response vehicles.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn new speed reduction techniques to add to the Vision Zero toolkit for traffic calming along arterial roadways.
- Understand design and signing/marking treatments for speed tables.
- Learn about materials that help to highlight the vertical elements.
- Understand how to communicate new project design elements to project stakeholders.
