When: April 29, 2025 | 3:00 - 4:00 PM ET
This webinar is led by the ITE Engineering Council.
Webinar Description:
Guiding motorists through work zones safely and efficiently is a critical challenge in traffic management, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of work zone design principles. This webinar aims to engage traffic engineers, planners, and road safety professionals with the fundamental knowledge required to develop, implement, and manage work zones that minimize disruptions and maintain safety for both workers and road users. This webinar is designed for participants that have direct responsibility for design of work zones or provide maintenance of traffic review feedback. Participants will learn about the key elements of work zone design, including the layout of signs and barriers, the use of traffic control devices, and the integration of technological tools to enhance communication and safety. The session will also cover strategies for effective traffic management around work zones, ensuring that vehicle and pedestrian flows are handled smoothly.
The webinar will address the importance of planning and executing work zone setups that accommodate all road users, including considerations for accessibility and the impacts on public transport routes. Professionals will gain insights into assessing the effectiveness of work zone designs through metrics such as traffic speed, congestion levels, and incident rates, enabling continuous improvement and adaptation of strategies in response to evolving conditions on the road.
