When: April 22, 2025 | 2:00 - 3:00 PM ET
This webinar is led by the ITE Transit Committee.
Webinar Description:
Support and funding for large-scale transit projects may be tenuous in the future. Agencies across the US and Canada will need to work extra hard to make the most of their existing resources. This webinar hosts two agencies with programs that do just that; develop cost-effective, smaller-scale projects that maximize transit benefit for minimal cost. Most of these groups' successes do not result in massive, 'ribbon-cutting' projects but they provide recognized improvements to transit speeds and journey experience.
This hour-long webinar will feature two Pacific Northwest Transit agencies - King County Metro (KCM) in Seattle, WA and TransLink (TL) in Vancouver, BC - who will discuss two distinct initiatives to low-cost transit priority measures in their respective regions. KCM will present their Bus Speed & Reliability Program and TL will discuss its Bus Stop Balancing Program. Both initiatives provide significant travel savings to bus passengers but their implementation has not been without challenges and setbacks. KCM and TL planners will share how these initiatives work, how they sometimes don't, and how they can translate to other agencies in the US and Canada.
