Sub-Task 2.4: Deprecate Targeted NTCIP Standards

NTCIP 9014 identified a number of standards that are no longer utilized and should be considered for deprecation. ITE will convene the appropriate NTCIP working groups and determine if the community no longer needs these standards, create a list of the standards identified for deprecation, deprecate the agreed to standards. Deprecated standards shall be marked as such, but still made available via a historical or archival standards download process. The initial list of standards for deprecation can be found in below-

1. NTCIP 1103: The contents of this standard have either been deprecated (e.g., STMP and

SFMP) or moved to other documents (e.g., ISO 15784-2, ISO 20684 series, and NTCIP 1201).

2. NTCIP 2101: The limited bandwidth provided by the point-to multi- point protocol over RS-

232 will prevent it from being a viable subnet profile for secure NTCIP.

3. NTCIP 2102: The limited bandwidth provided by the point-to multi- point protocol over FSK

modems will prevent it from being a viable subnet profile for secure NTCIP.

4. NTCIP 2201: The Transportation Transport Profile does not currently support a secure

transport (e.g., TLS), and there does not seem to be sufficient justification or industry support

    to develop a secure version.
